Adobe Reader software is used for viewing, printing, and annotating PDF documents. You will need to download and install Adobe Reader to use the Read Out Loud feature. The following instructions will only work with text-based PDFs. Image-based PDFs may look like they contain text, but they simply contain an image of the text.
Downloading and Installing Adobe Reader
- Visit www.adobe.com/accessibility/products/reader.html.
- Click on the Adobe Reader Download link.
- Adobe will walk you through the process of installing Adobe Reader.

- Open your pdf file in Adobe Reader.
- Click on View.
- Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select Read Out Loud.
More options will appear to the right of your cursor. - Click on Activate Read Out Loud.
